We do not publish a price per square metre, because the number would be wrong for your house. What moves it is the size and pitch of the roof, how many storeys, whether scaffolding is needed, what profile you pick, and what we find under the old roof. We come out, measure it, and give you a written number before you commit to anything. That quote is the price.

Most houses are four days to two weeks on site. A straightforward single-storey longrun reroof is usually under a week. Tile conversions, two-storey houses, and roofs where we find rotten purlins take longer. We give you a start date and a realistic finish date in the quote, and we tell you if it moves.

Usually not. Replacing a roof with a comparable material is generally exempt work in New Zealand, so most reroofs go ahead without consent. It changes if you are altering the structure, changing the roof pitch, or going from tiles to steel in a way that affects the framing. We will tell you which one you are before we start, and we will say so if consent is needed.

Yes, and almost everyone does. The house is never left open overnight — we strip and close in section by section, so you are watertight at the end of every day. It is noisy, there will be a skip and scaffolding, and you will want the car out of the way. Nobody has to move out.

Longrun just means the sheets are made to the length of your roof, so there are no joins running across it. Corrugate is the classic wavy profile and it suits most houses. Trapezoidal profiles like MC760 and Metdek 500 have squarer ribs and will go down to a 3-degree pitch where corrugate will not. Standing seam profiles like Espan hide the fixings completely. We will show you all of them on the roof you have got.

Ten years on our workmanship. If something we installed lets water in, we come back and fix it — no argument, no invoice, no "that's not covered". On top of that you get the manufacturer's material warranty, up to 50 years with NZ Steel COLORSTEEL, and we hand those documents over when we hand over the job.

Plenty of them. Concrete and Decramastic tiles reach a point where every storm costs you another repair, and a steel roof is a lot lighter on the framing. We take the tiles off, check and pack the framing, lay new underlay, and screw down longrun steel. You end up with a roof that weighs less and stops leaking.

Yes. Storm damage and wind damage are the common ones. We photograph the damage, write a scope your insurer can read, and price it properly. We deal with the assessor directly if that is easier for you.

No, and we would rather say so than pretend. We work 7am to 4pm on weekdays. If your roof is leaking right now, ring us in those hours and we will get someone there as soon as we can fit it in. Outside them, text Steve and he will call you first thing — put a bucket under it and take a photo of where the water is coming in.

Roofing on most houses is restricted building work, so the person doing it should be licensed — it is worth asking anyone who quotes you.

Yes — the full COLORSTEEL range, and we will bring samples so you can hold them up against the house rather than guessing off a screen. Darker colours look sharp and sit hotter; lighter ones are more forgiving. If your place is in a covenanted subdivision, check the covenant first, because some limit you to a short list.

Not necessarily. Moss holds water against the steel and speeds up corrosion, but a roof with sound coating and good fixings can be washed and treated and carry on for years. The honest answer depends on what is under the moss, which is why the roof check is free. We will tell you if a wash is all it needs.
